October 12th 2018 Hydref 12fed

Dear Parents and Carers / Annwyl Rieni a Gwarchodwyr,
It was a shame the weather left us unable to attend church for our Harvest Service, but we got to see first-hand, that our hall is a great venue to hold communal events such as these, even when there are a great many of our parents and relatives attending. Thank you for your support.

Roedd yn drueni bod y tywydd wedi golygu peidio mynd i’r Eglwys ar gyfer ein Gwasanaeth Diolchgarwch, ond gwelsom bod ein neuadd yn leoliad gwych i gynnal digwyddiadau cymunedol fel y rhain, hyd yn oed pan fo llawer iawn o’n rhieni a pherthnasau yn mynychu. Diolch am eich cefnogaeth.

Yours sincerely / Yn gywir,

Bryn D. Jones, Headteacher / Pennaeth

Harvest Service – The venue may have been different but the message was the same in a lovely service this morning. Thank you to Rev. Stuart for his contributions, to Mrs Parr for her accompaniment on the piano, to the staff for their preparations and of course to the pupils for charming us all with their songs, hymns and recitals. We will pass on all food contributions to Ruthin Food Bank and we thank you for the offerings.

Parents’ Evening – These consultations will be held next week for Reception pupils through to Year 6.

PTA Own Clothes – Monday is an own clothes day, with chocolate donations requested for the PTA Halloween Disco which is held next Friday.

Halloween Disco – If anybody is able to help on stalls next Friday, please see Lucy Purvis, Jayne Mayers or email rhosstreetpta@gmail.com. Many thanks.

Shocktober – We will hold activities on Tuesday next week, with Year 6 helping the other classes to learn CPR skills. Huge thanks to Julie Atherton for her support.

Jamboree – I hope the Infants very much enjoy their Jamboree in Brynhyfryd next Tuesday.

Cross Country – Thank you to all the pupils who took part last night in the Vale Cross Country event. We had some great results, including Kody’s second place finish. When I have all the results to hand I will share them with you and celebrate some fine achievements!

Bikeability – Bikeability lessons took place this week, with our Year 6 pupils learning some essential skills which I very much hope they remember and put into action as they use their bikes on the public highway.

Competition Winner – We were delighted to hear that Ruby had been successful in winning a Kindle Fire in the recent Open Day in Brynhyfryd for our Year 6 pupils. Mr Griffiths and Mrs Morgan-Roberts visited to present a beaming young lady with a great prize!

Nursery Activities – The Nursery children have been planting spring flowering bulbs for the outdoor classroom. They have been learning about how we grow and looking at similarities and comparisons of other things that grow as part of their topic: ‘Ourselves.’

Vale of Clwyd Netball – A group of young ladies will compete in Wednesday’s event at Denbigh High. Pob lwc!

Twitter Updates – Photos of lunchtime clubs, living classroom activities, plus other class news have been and will be posted to twitter, so please take a look.
