Dear Parents and Carers / Annwyl Rieni a Gwarchodwyr,
It has certainly been an incredibly hot week! The children have coped brilliantly with the warm weather and have shown great resilience throughout.
By following guidance around sensible clothing, staying well hydrated, wearing hats and applying sun cream, the children have helped us to ensure everyone stays safe while still making the most of their learning. We have also made a few special adjustments during the day to keep everyone as comfortable as possible.
The sunshine has been lovely, but I have to admit I’ll be quite pleased when we return to the slightly cooler temperatures forecast for next week! Wishing you all an enjoyable, restful weekend.
End of Year Reports
Children will have brought home their end-of-year school reports today. We encourage all parents and carers to take the time to read through the report carefully and share it with your child, celebrating their achievements and discussing their progress together.
Due to unforeseen issues with the school printer, Year 4 and Year 5 reports will now be handed out on Monday.
If any parents require an additional copy of their child’s school report, please contact andrew.davis@denbighshire.gov.uk and we will arrange for an electronic copy to be sent to you.
If you would like to discuss anything specific within the report, appointments can be made with your child’s class teacher on Monday 29th June. Please contact the school office to arrange this.
Also included with this newsletter is information on how to access your child’s learner feedback on the Hwb platform, following the completion of this year’s personalised assessments in reading and procedural mathematics. This provides parents and carers with an opportunity to view and better understand their child’s progress and areas for development.
If you have any difficulty accessing this information, please contact the school office and we will be happy to help.
Thank you for your continued support.
Summer Fair Success
On Monday, we were delighted to enjoy lovely summer weather for our school Summer Fair. It was fantastic to see such a great turnout from the whole school community, with so many families coming together to celebrate and make the most of the sunshine.
There were lots of wonderful stalls and activities on offer, and it was truly heartwarming to see everyone enjoying the occasion. A huge thank you goes to our PTA for all their hard work in organising the event, as well as to everyone who contributed, supported, and attended.
We are pleased to share that the Summer Fair raised an amazing £618 for the PTA. These funds will go towards providing additional opportunities and experiences for the pupils of Rhos Street School.
Thank you once again to our whole school community for your continued support—it made the day such a special success.
Sports Day Arrangements
We’re looking forward to welcoming you to our upcoming Sports Day.
Here are the key details:
Foundation Learners: 9:30 AM
7-11s: 1:30 PM
Date: Tuesday 30th June
To help the day run smoothly and safely, please note the following:
• Children should come to school wearing sun cream, a hat, and bring a named water bottle.
• Pupils should wear their team colours for the event.
• Junior pupils may be collected early following the end of their Sports Day activities.
• Parents, carers, family, and friends are warmly invited to attend — we recommend bringing chairs or picnic blankets for comfort while spectating.
• For safety reasons, we kindly ask all spectators to remain in the designated viewing area and not to cross the running track or encourage children to do so.
• We are currently having work carried out on the trees by the gate to the main field. Therefore, access to the field will be via the path adjacent to the multi-use games area and through the large gates on the Ysgol Pen Barras site.
The weather forecast is currently much cooler for Tuesday; however, we will continue to monitor conditions closely and will inform you of any changes to arrangements as soon as we are aware of them.
Thank you for your support — we’re looking forward to a fantastic day of fun and teamwork.
Super Summer Fair Fundraising Efforts
We would like to give a big well done to Stanley in Year 3, who organised a fantastic toy stall at the Summer Fair, with a little help from his brother Rex, in aid of Rupert’s Rainbow.
We are also very proud of Hannah, Daisy, Eliza and Piper, who set up a wonderful bracelet stall to support the same cause.
Together, these brilliant fundraising efforts made a real difference, with Stanley’s toy stall alone raising an impressive £130!
These are excellent causes and such a wonderful initiative from all involved — we are incredibly proud of their kindness, teamwork, and community spirit. Well done to you all.
Welcoming the Spanish U19 Football Team
Today, children from Rhos St, along with our friends from Ysgol Pen Barras, were given a wonderful opportunity to take part in a special community event in Ruthin, welcoming the Spanish Under-19s football team as they arrive to base their training locally.
The children did us proud, greeting the players and singing beautifully to mark the occasion. It was a fantastic experience for them and a great way to be involved in an international sporting event right on our doorstep.
S4C were also present, so you may even spot some familiar faces on the news!
A big thank you to Andrew Lewis, Harri in Yr. 5’s dad, for making this opportunity possible—it’s something the children will remember for a long time.
