Dear Parents and Carers / Annwyl Rieni a Gwarchodwyr,

Autumn is in the Air at Rhos Street!
As the leaves begin to turn and the mornings grow crisper, autumn has truly arrived here at Rhos Street School. With the change in season comes a renewed sense of energy and purpose, and preparations are already in full swing for our much-loved Harvest Service. This special event is a wonderful opportunity for our school community to come together in celebration and reflection, as we give thanks and support those in need. We look forward to sharing the spirit of the season with you all.

Thank You for Supporting Smooth Morning Transitions
We’d like to take a moment to thank all our Foundation Learner families for your continued support during morning drop-offs. Your efforts in leaving the site promptly after saying goodbye are truly appreciated. This small but important action helps us create a calm and settled start to the day for all our pupils.
By allowing children to transition into the classroom independently, you’re helping to build their confidence and resilience. Our staff are always on hand to support and reassure them, and your cooperation plays a key role in making mornings smooth and positive for everyone. Thank you once again for your understanding and partnership.

Sponsored Walk for North Wales Air Ambulance
We are delighted to share that children from Classes 2–6 at Rhos Street School will be joining pupils from Ysgol Pen Barras on Wednesday 24th September to take part in a sponsored walk in support of the North Wales Air Ambulance.
This event is a fantastic opportunity for both schools to come together in collaboration and community spirit, working alongside Sally Smith, a dedicated local resident who has worked tirelessly to organise this meaningful fundraising initiative.
We are proud to be supporting such a worthwhile cause and would be very grateful for any donations made via the following link: https://www.walesairambulance.com/donate-v2
When making a donation, please reference Sally Smith in the comments section to acknowledge her hard work and commitment in bringing this event to life.
Thank you for your continued support. We look forward to a meaningful and enjoyable day for all involved!

A Great Start in Nursery!
We’re delighted with how well our new Nursery pupils have settled in this term. The staggered start approach has really helped the children ease into their new environment, allowing them to build confidence, form early friendships, and become familiar with routines at their own pace. It’s been lovely to see so many happy faces and growing independence already!

Working Together Supporting a Respectful School Environment
We would like to take this opportunity to thank all parents and carers for continuing to support a safe, respectful, and positive environment at Rhos Street School.
As outlined in our school policies, we believe that all stakeholders—parents, carers, staff, governors, and pupils—have the right to be heard, understood, and treated with courtesy. Equally, our staff and pupils have the right to work and learn in an environment free from abuse or harm.
We are grateful to the vast majority of our families who consistently uphold these values and help us maintain a culture of mutual respect. Your cooperation ensures that our school remains a welcoming and safe place for everyone.
We appreciate your understanding that while determination and advocacy are valued, actions that involve aggressive behaviour, unreasonable demands, or excessive contact can become disruptive and are considered unacceptable. Thank you for continuing to work with us in a constructive and respectful manner.

School Council Gets to Work!
We’re excited to announce that our newly appointed School Council met for the first time on Wednesday! This enthusiastic group of pupils from across the school came together to begin their journey as representatives of their peers, learning about their new roles and responsibilities.
Our younger councillors took part in a creative and thoughtful activity, exploring leadership qualities through the lens of teddy bears. They considered which teddies might make the best leaders, reflecting on traits such as bravery, listening skills, and the ability to help others—a fun and imaginative way to begin thinking about what makes a good role model.
We’re proud of all our councillors and look forward to seeing the positive impact they will have on school life this year. Watch this space for updates on their projects and initiatives!

Weekly Wellbeing
This week’s wellbeing quote is from Bruce Lee (1940–1973) the legendary martial artist, actor, and philosopher whose influence extended far beyond the world of film and combat sports. Known for his discipline, wisdom, and groundbreaking approach to martial arts, Lee also shared powerful insights on personal growth and integrity. His words continue to inspire generations to lead with strength, humility, and respect.

“Knowledge will give you power, but character respect.”
Bruce Lee

This week’s brilliant achievers are: Sophie, Samuel, Ethan, Amelia, Alice, Luna, Jake, Sydney, and Bryce.
Welsh awards went to: Josh, Verity, Eliza, Daniel, Sam, Poppy, Kalani, and Hattie. Well done to all our amazing achievers this week.

We will be celebrating the Summer Reading Challenge in next week’s service.
