Mai 8fed / May 8th

Dear Parents and Carers / Annwyl Rieni a Gwarchodwyr,

We hope you all had a lovely long weekend and enjoyed the shorter week. It’s been wonderful to see the children return refreshed and ready for learning, with another week full of fun and engaging activities across the school.
It has certainly felt a little calmer than the busyness of last week, and it has been a pleasure to enjoy some focused learning time with the children. As always, thank you for your continued support.

Drop‑off Area Reminder (2.30–3.30pm)
We would like to remind parents and carers that the drop‑off areas are designated for taxis only between 2.30pm and 3.30pm. This arrangement is in place to help ensure the safe arrival and departure of pupils and to support our safeguarding procedures.
We kindly ask that private vehicles do not use these areas during this time. Thank you for your cooperation in helping us keep everyone safe.

Tesco Tokens – Be Alert, Don’t Get Hurt – Road Safety Project
As I’m sure you are aware Rhos St are leading on the Be Alert, Don’t Get Hurt road‑safety collaboration project alongside Pen Barras and Ysgol Borthyn. This important initiative focuses on raising awareness of road safety and helping to keep our pupils, families, and wider school community safe.
The project is currently being supported through the Tesco Community Grant scheme. If you shop at Tesco and receive one of the blue tokens, please consider placing it in the slot for Be Alert, Don’t Get Hurt. Every token makes a difference and helps support this valuable work across our schools.
Thank you very much for your continued support in helping us keep our children and community safe.

Best Wishes to Miss Davies
We would like to wish Miss Davies all the very best as she begins her maternity leave.
Miss Davies has shown incredible dedication and commitment to the school, not least during our recent Estyn inspection—no small feat at any time, let alone whilst heavily pregnant! Her positivity, resilience and ‘can-do’ attitude have been truly appreciated by staff and pupils alike. She has been an absolute trooper throughout.
We thank her for her sterling efforts and everything she has contributed to school life, and we wish her every happiness as she begins this exciting new chapter.
We look forward to welcoming her back in the future—along with introducing the newest member of her family to our school
community.

Reception Creativity – ‘Book People’
The Reception children have been thoroughly enjoying their ‘Tell Me A Story’ topic and have been busy bringing their learning to life through a range of creative activities.
One of their favourite tasks has been making their own ‘Book People’. The children showed great imagination and care as they designed and created their characters, thinking about their features, clothing and personalities.
This activity has not only encouraged creativity, but has also supported the children’s developing storytelling skills, helping them to talk about characters, recall key events and build their confidence in sharing ideas with others.
We are very proud of their fantastic efforts – and we’re sure you’ll agree their ‘Book People’ are full of character and charm.
