Dear Parents / Carers,
A week to go and despite the mayhem, it is a very special time of year. The snow has of course added some additional drama to the festive period and while it was fun in lots of ways, I’d like to thank the school community for their co-operation in helping to manage the hazards involved.
Annwyl Rieni / Gwarchodwyr,
Gyda wythnos i fynd, er y prysurdeb, mae’n gyfnod arbennig iawn. Mae’r eira wedi ychwanegu at y drama wrth gwrs a tra roedd yn llawer o hwyl, rwy’n ddiolchgar i bawb am eu cydweithrediad yn helpu i reoli y peryglon amrywiol.
Yours sincerely / Yn gywir,
Bryn D. Jones, Headteacher / Pennaeth
Twitter – Issues with the recent weather, highlighted further what a useful resource twitter is for sharing information. We are adding to our followers each week, so if you don’t yet follow us, please do so in order for you to be kept up to date with all activities, particularly if there is news we need to get out there as a matter of urgency. @rhosstreet
Infants’ Concert – The three performances of The Sleepy Shepherd went down a treat. Huge thanks go to the pupils for providing the entertainment. I’d also like to thank Mrs Liddy and her team of Foundation Phase staff and to the Giggles team for their hard work preparing the concerts. The final performance was particularly poignant, as it was the final Xmas concert ever to be held at the current Rhos Street site. Well done to everybody concerned.
Thank You Waterco – Chromebook Appeal – You will be aware having seen the PTAs letter this week, that they have been instrumental in raising money to buy a set of Chromebooks that will be with us in the New Year. Additionally, an appeal was made to any local businesses to sponsor a Chromebook for £200 and we were delighted to hear from Waterco, who kindly volunteered to do so. We are very grateful for this wonderful gesture and if any other local businesses want to become involved in our venture, then please do get in touch.
Juniors’ Concert Arrangements – We have a dress rehearsal on Monday afternoon, so please could you ensure that all items of costume are in school on Monday morning. The concerts once again take place at Ruthin school. The first public performance will be on Tuesday afternoon at 1.30pm. Contributions are requested on the door, with no advance tickets sold. The evening performance will begin at 6pm, but we request that the pupils arrive by 5.30pm. Parking is at a premium at the site, so if you are able to walk the children, then that would be useful. The PTA will provide refreshments and there will be a raffle, which will be drawn during the interval.
Xmas Jumpers – Christmas Jumper Day was as colourful as ever. The contributions will go to Save the Children and seeing all the outfits has made everybody feel really Christmassy.
Christmas Choir Arrangements – Having had a couple of recent ‘gigs’ cancelled, the Christmas Choir will sing once again next week. On Wednesday, we will take them down to Tesco at 1pm, before they sing again in the PTA Fair later the same afternoon. We have also provisionally been invited to sing in Costa at the end of next week and I will provide further details when I have them.
PTA Film Morning – On Wednesday morning, as a special treat, the PTA will hold a film morning for the pupils. Thanks once again to them for their ongoing support to the school.
Christmas Fair – On Wednesday afternoon, as you will have seen from the letter sent out this week, the Fair has been scaled down and rescheduled for Wednesday afternoon from 2.30-4pm. The pupils will be given the chance to sell their wares from their class stalls and we will hold the raffle and sing as outlined above.
Outstanding Monies – Could all outstanding dinner money and music lesson payments be settled on Monday please. Paying on Monday will assist us in completing all administrative tasks before the end of term. Many thanks.
Logo Consultation – Our pupils are being involved in a very important task at the end of this term, to help finalise the new Rhos Street Logo. You will recall that months ago, the pupils were asked to share ideas on what they thought the logo should depict and the hills, castle and church featured strongly. They are discussing their favourites from the ideas submitted and in the New Year, we will be delighted to share their final decisions with you!
Reading Club – No reading club next week.
Infant Christmas Parties – These take place on Tuesday next week!
Xmas Lunch – The canteen was a very busy place yesterday, as scores of Xmas Dinners were served by Lyn and her team. Thank to them for the lovely meal. It was, as ever a very festive occasion!
