Dear Parents / Carers,
A busy day, week, month, term and indeed year comes to an end where the school is concerned and I think everyone is very relieved that the finishing line has come at last. It’s at times like this when I realise what a privilege it is to be part of this school. The children and staff today sang Christmassy songs with all their hearts and I was so proud of them all in their concerts this year. Now the whole school community can look forward to a couple of weeks of festive fun with presents, lots of food and a glass or two I’m sure. There’s been a lovely Christmas atmosphere here at the school and a feeling of satisfaction after a very positive term. I’d like to thank my excellent, highly skilled staff for all they do for the pupils under their care, to the Governors for their work and commitment and to parents and relatives for your ever appreciated support. Merry Christmas to you all!
Yours stincerely / Yn gywir,
Bryn D. Jones, Headteacher / Pennaeth
Cinderella Rockefella – Thank you for the lovely feedback following the Juniors’ concerts this week. They were very special events which I’m sure will live long in the memory. Thank you to the pupils for their wonderful performances and to Mr. Davis’ team for their work in preparing the pupils. The PTAs efforts providing refreshments and running a raffle were also very much appreciated.
Giggles – Giggles has won £100 to spend in Hobbycraft. It is a WPPA easyfundraising competition. They’re looking forward to spending the £100 on educational goods for the children. They’re going to buy a small teepee for the children and need a few crafty bits that will replace supplies after all the Christmas craft. Easyfundraising is a super idea for non-profitable/charitable organisations and settings that struggle financially. As a team, they fundraise for any equipment/craft items that are needed.
INSET – Monday, January 8th is a staff training day, so the children will return on Tuesday the 9th.
Snow – Let’s hope any snow is restricted to the holidays, but remember if you are in any doubt regarding school closures, then as ever, twitter is the place to go in the New Year.
Christmas Singalong – We all assembled in the hall today for our annual Christmas singalong. The pupils sang with enthusiasm, the staff played percussion terribly and the mistakes I made on guitar were cleverly hidden by all the noise. It was great fun!
Reading Initiative – A DCC Reading Mentor Initiative has given Andrew, Finley and Billy the opportunity to have some sessions with David Logan and they were presented with a book and certificate this week.
Achievers – Our achievers included Raif who gave a reading on behalf of the Rugby Club in St. Peter’s Church at the weekend. Katie received lifeguard certificates and badges, Faye a gymnastics certificate and Alex a taekwondo trophy and blue belt.
Art Club – Please see the letter sent home this week, in order to register your child to art club in the New Year.
Glasdir – The latest newsletter regarding the Glasdir build has been published. I have emailed out a copy and it is also downloadable from our twitter account.
Sportzone – Please see your email inbox and twitter for details of Denbighshire Leisure Services Sportzone activities in the New Year.
Urdd Netball Training – See twitter for details of netball sessions in Ruthin run by the Urdd in the New Year.
PTA – You will see the PTA has sent a note thanking you all for your contributions. I would like to thank Jayne and her team for their hard work and support. They’ve been fantastic.
PTA Fair – Despite being scaled down, the PTA Fair was a huge success. The pupils’ stalls were fantastic and their projects to develop financial education skills has taught them a lot. Thank you for supporting. It was a pleasure to welcome the school community through the doors in such good numbers and showcase the good work being done by our pupils. There was a lovely atmosphere of positivity around the whole event.
Xmas Choir – Thank you to the pupils who sang this week. They deserved the goodies and treats in Costa yesterday. They also sang wonderfully in Tesco and at the Fair.
