Dear Parents & Carers / Annwyl Rieni a Gwarchodwyr,
We seemed to have a lot of empty classrooms at different points this week, but when you consider various visits to the Living Classroom, swimming, art workshops, Wonderland activities, PE in the sun and hall practice for Family Service, you soon realise why! Yes, it’s been another busy week but a very enriching one!

Roedd yn ymddangos bod gennym lawer o ystafelloedd dosbarth gwag ar adegau gwahanol yr wythnos hon, ond pan ystyriwch ymweliadau amrywiol â’r Dosbarth BYw, nofio, gweithdai celf, gweithgareddau Wonderland, Addysg Gorfforol yn yr haul ac ymarfer neuadd ar gyfer Gwasanaeth Teulu, byddwch yn sylweddoli pam! Ydy, mae wedi bod yn wythnos brysur arall ond yn un cyfoethog iawn!

Yours sincerely / Yn gywir,

Bryn D. Jones, Headteacher / Pennaeth

Year 1 Family Service – We were treated to a fantastic Family Service from Year 1 today, on the theme of Roald Dahl’s novels. The pupils were so enthusiastic, well drilled, looked fantastic and had a very captive audience indeed. Huge thanks to them, Miss Bevan and Becky for their preparations and to the parents and relatives who supported.

Sun Safety – With the sun’s strength growing ever stronger as we head towards Summer, please ensure your child has a sun hat and is wearing sun cream in school. Take a look at our Sun Safe Policy in the website’s download section.

Veg Power – Sent home is a Veg Power pack, which is a scheme that may well help you to increase the amount of vegetable your child eats.

Living Classroom Bat Walk – It was a pleasure to attend the Bat Walk down at the Living Classroom last night. It was a delight to see the event so well attended and to see the enthusiasm shown by pupils and parents alike. It was fascinating to track the Bats’ movement with the sensors and also to see the other activities. I hope those who attended were glad to be able to visualise this wonderful resource at our disposal, having heard so much about it over the last twelve months. Thank you to Mrs Davies for her work and to Denbighshire Countryside Services for their work as part of this brilliant partnership.

Living Classroom Activities – See twitter for photos of other Living Classroom activities this week.

Year 6 Wormery – Year 6 have been preparing their wormery on the school site as part of this year’s Rotary competition. See Twitter.

Play in a Day – On Tuesday, this annual activity will take place for Year 5. Parents are welcome to attend at 2.45pm to see the pupils showcase their work.

Wonderland Pop Up Performance – The school hall was the setting for a production based on the Alice in Wonderland story on Thursday. It was very well received and involverd a colourful set, some familiar characters and some very interesting puppets. This Denbighshire project in conjunction with magic Light Productions has been a big success.

Wonderland Exhibition
– There is an exhibition in County Hall, Ruthin which has been showcasing the entries submitted across the county for the competitions before Easter. Many of our pupils’ work is exhibited and the list is on twitter.

Wonderland Biscuit Competition – Lily-Mae won the biscuit competition among Foundation Phase pupils and the announcement was made during the Wonderland performance.

Music Tuition – Fees for this term are on Parent Pay. Please also settle any outstanding fees from last term. Many thanks.

Wonderland Puppet Workshop – Year 6 were treated to a puppet workshop provided by the Wonderland cast. It was a great opportunity.

Year 6 Transition Visit – Mr Griffiths, head of Year 7 in Brynhyfryd, will visit next week to give a talk to our Year 6 leavers who are sadly, nearing the end of their time with us.

Ruthin Festival Own Clothes Day – In order to help raise funds for the Ruthin Festival, we are holding an own clothes day next Friday for £1 each. Many thanks for your support.

Briec de l’Odet Visit – On July 25-30th, there has been a visit to Brittany organised by the Ruthin and District Twinning Association. If you are interested in further details, then please phone 01824 704558.

Year 3 Art Workshop – Year 3 took part in a magic carpet workshop at the Craft Centre, as part of a collaborative project between school, making a large rug which when finished, will be on display.
