June 7th / Mehefin 7Fed

Dear Parents and Carers / Annwyl Rieni a Gwarchodwyr,

It was great to welcome everyone back to school on Monday ready for the final half term of the academic year. Lots of new themes and topics got underway this week, as well as Yr. 6s stealthy preparations for their leavers’ service, as they come towards the end of their time in primary school and get ready for new adventures at Ysgol Brynhyfryd.

Cycle Safety
We are so proud of the members of our school community, who make active journeys to school on foot, by scooter, or bicycle. As a Platinum-Eco School we value the brilliant contribution that these active journeys make to health and wellbeing as well as to the local and global environment. I would however request that children, parents, and carers riding to school by scooter or bicycle push their bike or scooter when on the ‘upper level’ paths, directly adjacent to the school entrance, as we have unfortunately had some recent near-misses, spills, and collisions. Many thanks in advance for your help and support in relation to this important safety issue.

Rugby Sessions
Rugby-Development Officer, and ex-pupil, Mike Evans visited us at Rhos St on Wednesday to deliver some rugby sessions for the Yrs. 5 and 6 pupils. They had a fantastic time developing their rugby skills and playing some exciting games. Mike will be returning over the next few weeks to continue the sessions with both classes.

Bikes, Trikes & Scooters Request

Mrs. Liddy and her foundation learners’ department would love donations of any outgrown, appropriately sized, bicycles, tricycles, or scooters for the children to use. Please speak to your child’s class teacher or to the admin team if you think you may have a bike, trike, or scooter to donate. Many thanks.

Gardening Club
Mrs. Davies and Ms. Williams will be continuing Gardening Club, 3.30pm – 4.15pm, this half term with the Yrs. 5 & 6 pupils. Gardening Club will begin on Wednesday the 12th of June, with the final session on Wednesday 10th of July.

Yr. 6 Visit to DangerPoint

The Yr. 6 Class headed off to DangerPoint in Talacre yesterday and had the opportunity to learn about safety with fun and interactive activities. Designed like a film set, the children journeyed from the home to the beach, countryside, playground, farm & other settings. They had a fantastic time learning about managing risks and how to keep safe whilst, most importantly, having fun.

Weekly Wellbeing
This week’s quote is from Jimmy Ray Dean who was an American country music singer, television host, actor, and businessman. It reminds us to focus our efforts on the things we can control, rather than the things we can’t.

“We can’t control the direction of the wind, but we can adjust our sails.”

School Trip Payments
Many of our school trip letters have gone out this week, could we please request that payment be made, via the ParentPay app, as soon as is practicable. Many thanks.

School Contact
We are always more than happy to talk with parents and carers here at Rhos St, but would politely request that contact be arranged through our telephone number: 01824702565 or email address: andrew.davis@denbighsire.gov.uk . We have had some parents / carers contact staff through unaffiliated social media platforms recently. This puts staff, and parents, in a possibly difficult position and risks compromising the important delineation between professional and home life. Many thanks, in advance, for your support in relation to this.

Achievers
This week’s amazing achievers are Jacob, Tommy, Nimrod, Toby, Isla, Ellie, Wren, Caden-James, Lukas and Max.
Toby shared his rugby medals; Jaxson shared his bravery certificate and Ella shared her dance medal. Congratulations to our fantastic achievers this week.

We were also lucky enough to have a lovely piano recital from Poppy.
