Dear Parents and Carers / Annwyl Rieni a Gwarchodwyr,
Autumn is in full swing, and our pupils have been busy with a range of exciting activities. Harvest preparations are underway, with children exploring themes of gratitude and community. Our recent Cross-Country event showcased fantastic effort and team spirit—well done to all who took part! We’ve also held Road Safety sessions to support pupils in staying safe and alert, and a visit to the Living Classroom provided a hands-on learning experience that sparked curiosity and engagement.
Harvest Service – Wednesday, October 15th
We are delighted to invite families to our upcoming Harvest Service on Wednesday October 15th, where pupils will share individual class harvest pieces and join together in whole school songs to celebrate the season of gratitude.
To help us manage space and adhere to fire safety regulations, we will be holding two separate performances:
Foundation Phase Performance – 9:30am
Junior Phase Performance – 1:30pm
We kindly ask that families attend only one performance, based on which phase their child is in, or select one if they have children in both phases. This will ensure a safe and comfortable experience for all attendees.
We look forward to welcoming you and sharing this joyful occasion with our school community.
Hello Yellow Day – A Bright Success!
Today, our school was awash with yellow as pupils and staff came together to support Hello Yellow Day, raising awareness for young people’s mental health. From yellow socks to sunshine-themed accessories, the effort and enthusiasm across the school was truly heartwarming.
The day sparked meaningful conversations about wellbeing and the importance of looking after ourselves and each other. Activities throughout the day focused on positivity, kindness, and emotional resilience, helping to reinforce the message that mental health matters.
Thank you to everyone who took part and helped make the day so special. Your support helps us continue to build a caring and inclusive school community.

Cross Country Success – Isla & Elianna Shine!
We’re incredibly proud of Isla and Elianna, who both represented Rhos Street CP School brilliantly at the Vale of Clwyd Cross Country Finals on Wednesday.
With determination and fantastic effort, both girls achieved an impressive 6th place in their respective races—an outstanding result in a highly competitive field.
Their commitment, resilience, and sportsmanship were a credit to the school. Well done, Isla and Illiana—we’re so proud of you!
Be Alert, Don’t Get Hurt – Road Safety Collaboration
Yesterday, pupils from Rhos Street, Pen Barras, and Borthyn came together for a special road safety meeting as part of the Be Alert, Don’t Get Hurt initiative. We were joined by representatives from North Wales Police and the Fire and Rescue Service, who shared valuable insights into their roles and the importance of staying safe in our communities.
The children worked brilliantly together—learning, sharing ideas, and planning future activities to promote road safety across all three schools. It was inspiring to see such enthusiasm and teamwork in action.
This is a pupil-led initiative, and we’re excited to see what they come up with next. Watch this space for updates!
Year 4 Explore the Living Classroom
Yesterday, our Year 4 pupils enjoyed a wonderful visit to the Living Classroom, where they immersed themselves in nature and hands-on learning. The children had a fantastic time collecting apples, exploring the natural environment, and discovering more about the changing seasons.
It was a brilliant opportunity to connect classroom learning with the outdoors, and the pupils showed great curiosity, teamwork, and care for the environment throughout the visit.
Well done, Year 4!
Understanding the Online Safety Act – What Parents Should Know
The Online Safety Act is a new set of laws designed to make the internet safer for everyone, especially children. It holds tech companies legally responsible for protecting users from illegal and harmful content online. Under the Act, Ofcom has been given powers to enforce these rules, meaning platforms that fail to meet safety standards can face serious consequences. This includes all websites, apps, and games that children might use—whether on a phone, tablet, computer, or console. Please see information on TikTok and other apps that parents should know about attached with this newsletter.
Key points for parents:
• The Act does not ban children from social media, nor does it set a minimum age for use.
• However, it requires platforms to enforce their own age limits and take steps to protect young users.
• Some popular apps may still have no minimum age requirement, so parental awareness remains crucial.
This legislation is a major step forward in creating a safer online environment for children and young people. For more information, visit the Online Safety Act page on GOV.UK: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/online-safety-act-explainer/online-safety-act-explainer

Label It to Keep It!
As the weather cools and layers come out, we kindly remind all parents and carers of the importance of clearly naming all school items, especially jumpers and cardigans.
Unnamed clothing is very difficult to return to its rightful owner, and sadly, many perfectly good items end up in lost property or go unclaimed. This not only causes frustration but also has an environmental impact, as lost items often need to be replaced unnecessarily.
We strongly recommend using iron-on or sew-in name labels, which are long-lasting and eco-friendly.
To help with this, our Eco Council will soon be setting up a Lost Property Box outside the school building. This will make it easier for children and parents to check for missing items.
Let’s work together to reduce waste and keep our school community tidy and sustainable.
Weekly Wellbeing
Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882) was an American essayist, poet, philosopher, and lecturer who led the Transcendentalist movement in the mid-19th century. Born in Boston, Massachusetts, he was originally a Unitarian minister but left the clergy after a crisis of faith. Emerson became a prominent advocate for individualism, self-reliance, and the spiritual connection between humans and nature.
