Dear Parents and Carers / Annwyl Rieni a Gwarchodwyr,
What a fantastic and action-packed week we’ve had at Rhos Street! The festive spirit is well and truly alive after our wonderful PTA Christmas Fair—thank you to everyone who supported this event and helped make it such a success.
Our pupils have been busy with exciting experiences: Reception, Year 1, and Year 4 enjoyed a magical trip to the cinema, Welsh Craft Club had its first creative, fun-filled session, while Group 3 of Year 6 took part in bushcraft adventures, and the whole of Year 6 visited Dangerpoint for an important safety workshop.
Behind the scenes, we’ve also navigated the minefield of Christmas concert ticket allocation, and the children have been working hard practising for our forthcoming Christmas concerts—we can’t wait to share their performances with you!
It’s been a week full of learning, laughter, and festive cheer, and we’re looking forward to more seasonal celebrations as December unfolds!
Be Alert, Don’t Get Hurt -Road Safety Questionnaire
As part of an exciting collaboration between Ruthin Primary Schools, North Wales Police, and North Wales Fire and Rescue Service, pupils from Ysgol Rhos Street, Ysgol Borthyn, and Ysgol Pen Barras have been working together on a project to promote safety in our communities.
The children have designed a “Be Alert, Don’t Get Hurt” questionnaire, and we would love your input! Please follow the link below to complete the questionnaire:

Thank you for supporting this important project—your input will make a real difference!
Cinema Adventures for Years 1, 2, and 4
This week, some of our pupils enjoyed a real treat at the cinema! Year 4 headed off to watch the Garfield movie, while Years 1 and 2 had a fantastic time seeing Inside Out. Both trips were filled with excitement, and laughter.
A huge thank you to Emma for organising these visits and making sure everything ran smoothly. The children had a wonderful experience, and it was a great way to add a little extra sparkle to their week.
Christmas Jumper Day & Christmas Fair Success!
Tuesday was full of festive cheer as we celebrated Christmas Jumper Day and hosted our wonderful Christmas Fair. It was fantastic to see so many pupils and families getting into the Christmas spirit! A huge thank you to our PTA for organising the fair so brilliantly, to our staff for giving up their time to help, and to all our parents and carers for their incredible support. Together, we raised an amazing £931.50—a fantastic achievement that will benefit our school community.
Thank you again for making this event such a success!
Attendance and Punctuality – Why It Matters
At Rhos Street, we place great importance on regular attendance and punctuality. Every school day counts, and arriving on time ensures your child can settle quickly and make the most of their learning opportunities.
Consistent attendance helps children:
• Build strong learning foundations
• Develop positive routines and friendships
• Avoid gaps in knowledge that can be hard to catch up on
Please remember that holidays during term time cannot be authorised, and persistent absence or lateness may lead to a Fixed Penalty Notice being issued by the Local Authority. This is part of our shared commitment to giving every child the best possible start in life.
If your child is unwell or unable to attend, please notify us promptly via absences@ysgolrhosstreet.cymru
If you need support with attendance, don’t hesitate to contact us—we’re here to help.
Thank you for working with us to ensure every child benefits from full and punctual attendance.

Years 3 & 4 Outdoor Adventure at Pentrellyncymmer
Last week, our Year 3 and 4 pupils enjoyed an unforgettable visit to Pentrellyncymmer Outdoor Education Centre. With just the right amount of snow to make things magical, the children embraced a range of exciting activities including mountain biking, climbing, hillwalking, and bushcraft.
The trip was packed with high-quality instruction, fantastic food, and plenty of opportunities for pupils to challenge themselves. Experiences like these help build confidence, resilience, and the ability to step outside comfort zones—skills that will benefit them for life.
A huge thank you to the staff at Pentrellyncymmer for their expertise and care, and to our amazing school staff for giving up their time to make this opportunity possible for all pupils. We also extend our thanks to parents and carers for supporting the trip financially—it truly makes a difference.
Photos from this amazing adventure will be shared on Flickr in the near future, so keep an eye out!
Thank You for Netball Club!
A huge thank you to Mrs. Davies for running our Netball Club this term. The children have loved developing their skills, teamwork, and confidence on the court. It’s been fantastic to see so much enthusiasm and energy every week!
Netball Club will take a short break over the festive period but will return in the New Year—so watch this space for details. We can’t wait to see the pupils back in action, learning new techniques and enjoying the game together.
Thank you again, Mrs Davies, for your time and dedication in making this club such a success!

Weekly Wellbeing
This week’s quote is from Abraham Maslow (1908–1970) who was an American psychologist best known for creating Maslow’s hierarchy of needs, a theory that explains human motivation through a pyramid of needs, from basic survival to self-actualization. His work emphasised personal growth, self-improvement, and the pursuit of potential, making him a key figure in humanistic psychology.
“One can choose to go back toward safety or forward toward growth. Growth must be chosen again and again; fear must be overcome again and again.”
Abraham Maslow
