Dear Parents and Carers / Annwyl Rieni a Gwarchodwyr,

It’s been an incredibly busy and exciting week here at Rhos Street. The children have enjoyed cinema trips as part of our enrichment programme, taken part in Anti-Bullying Week activities promoting kindness and respect, and supported Children in Need through fundraising efforts. They have also engaged with the “Be Alert, Don’t Get Hurt” road safety initiative, participated in a COP30 webinar to learn about global environmental issues, and enjoyed percussion sessions delivered by Denbighshire Music Cooperative.
On top of all this, preparations for our Christmas Concert are now well underway, and the festive spirit is beginning to build!
Thank you for your continued support in making these opportunities possible. It’s been wonderful to see the children so engaged and enthusiastic throughout the week.

Rhos Street Pupils Join Anti-Bullying Alliance
In addition to the work undergone across the school for this Anti-Bullying week, Isla, Arlo, and Belle proudly represented Rhos Street at the first Ruthin-Town Schools Anti-Bullying Alliance meeting. Working in collaboration with Ysgol Pen Barras, Ysgol Borthyn and Ysgol Brynhyfryd, the group came together to share ideas and strategies aimed at tackling all forms of bullying.
It was a positive and productive start, with plenty of great discussions and creative suggestions. We’re excited to see what this committed group will achieve, and there will be lots more updates to come as the alliance continues its important work.

Children in Need Fundraising Success
Today, the school came together to support Children in Need with a fantastic day of fundraising. Pupils brightened up the classrooms by wearing colourful clothes and enjoyed a delicious cake sale alongside fun activities in the hall.
A huge thank you to Mrs. Price and the School Council for organising and running the event so smoothly. Their hard work ensured everything went perfectly and helped us raise funds for such a worthy cause.
Thank you to everyone who contributed and supported this special day – your generosity makes a real difference!

Be Alert, Don’t Get Hurt -Road Safety Initiative
This week, our Rhos Street representatives joined pupils from Ysgol Borthyn and Ysgol Pen Barras for another productive meeting as part of the Be Alert, Don’t Get Hurt road safety project. The group is working hard to gather feedback from parents and pupils through a questionnaire designed to capture experiences and concerns about journeys to and from school.
Using this information, the team will create banners and video clips for social media to highlight key issues and promote safer travel for everyone. A big thank you to our Rhos Street reps – Teddy, Eva, Lucas and Sophie – who contributed some excellent questions for the survey.
This is an exciting and positive initiative, and we look forward to sharing more updates as the project moves forward!

Blwyddyn 3 Enjoy Samba Beats!
Blwyddyn 3 had an amazing time during their second Denbighshire Music First Experiences session with Johnny this week. The children were introduced to a vibrant selection of samba drums and percussion instruments, learning how to create exciting rhythms together.
The highlight of the session was when the class came together to perform their very own mini carnival – complete with lively beats and plenty of smiles! It was a fantastic opportunity for the pupils to explore music in a fun and energetic way, and their enthusiasm was clear to see.
A big thank you to Johnny for delivering such an inspiring session. We can’t wait to see what musical adventures come next!

Cinema Trips for Years 2, 3, 5 & 6
This week, pupils in Years 2, 3, 5 and 6 have thoroughly enjoyed their free cinema visits as part of the ongoing enrichment programme. Years 2 and 3 were captivated by The Wild Robot, while Years 5 and 6 immersed themselves in the adventure of Kensuke’s Kingdom.
A huge thank you to all parents and carers for your generous donations towards the cost of transport, which helped make these trips possible. Special thanks also go to Emma for her hard work in organising everything so brilliantly.
These experiences have been a wonderful opportunity for the children to enjoy storytelling on the big screen and share the excitement together! Never fear – Year 4 will be heading off on their own cinematic adventure later this month! On Tuesday, November 25th, the children will enjoy a screening of The Garfield Movie.

COP30 Webinar – What Would You Tell World Leaders?
This week, pupils took part in an inspiring live COP30 webinar streamed from Brazil, titled “What Would You Tell World Leaders?”. The session encouraged children to think deeply about environmental issues and the future of our planet.
Our pupils engaged with global discussions on climate change, sustainability, and the actions needed to protect the world for generations to come. It was a fantastic opportunity for them to have their voices heard and to understand the importance of working together to tackle environmental challenges.

Weekly Wellbeing
Our quote, in this Anti-Bullying week, is from St. Ambrose (c. 340–397 AD) who was an influential bishop of Milan and one of the most prominent theologians of the early Christian Church. Known for his wisdom and compassion, Ambrose emphasized moral integrity and kindness in his teachings. His words remind us that harming others never leads to true strength or healing.

“No one heals themselves by wounding another.” – St. Ambrose

This week’s fantastic achievers are: Oliver, Jack, Florence, Tobias, Alfie, Orla, and Albie. Welsh Awards went to Darcie, Madalyn, Toby, Charlie, and Kit. Eva shared her gymnastic award, Louie shared his swimming and sailing awards, Ruby shared her brass – starter of the week award, and Sebastian shared his badminton award.
