Dear Parents and Carers / Annwyl Rieni a Gwarchodwyr,
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas here at Rhos Street! The school is buzzing with excitement as we dive into the festive season. This week, we were thrilled to welcome the Jack and the Beanstalk pantomime – what a magical experience for our pupils! Laughter and cheers filled the hall as the story came to life on stage.
Preparations for our Christmas Concert are in full swing, and the sound of festive singing echoes through the corridors. We can’t wait to share these special performances with you soon. Year 5 enjoyed an inspiring visit to the Living Classroom, exploring nature and learning in the great outdoors today, while our Nursery children enjoyed their own delightful Christmas event on Wednesday.
With decorations going up and festive activities underway, the whole school is embracing the joy of the season. Thank you for your continued support – we look forward to celebrating with you in the coming weeks!
Be Alert, Don’t Get Hurt -Road Safety Questionnaire
We would like to extend a huge thank you to all parents and carers who took the time to complete the “Be Alert, Don’t Get Hurt” questionnaire. This project, created in collaboration with Ruthin Primary Schools, North Wales Police, and North Wales Fire and Rescue Service, has been an exciting opportunity for our pupils to work together and promote safety in our communities.
Your input has been invaluable and will help the children develop meaningful safety messages and resources for our school communities. Together, we are encouraging positive change, local action, and a safer environment for everyone.
Thank you once again for supporting this important initiative—your involvement truly makes a difference!

Jack and the Beanstalk Pantomime – What a Treat!
Yesterday, our pupils were treated to a fantastic performance of Jack and the Beanstalk right here at Rhos Street! The hall was filled with laughter, excitement, and plenty of audience participation as the classic tale came to life on stage. It was a wonderful way to kick off the festive season and bring a little magic to our school day.
A huge thank you to our amazing PTA for funding this special event and for providing goodies for the children to enjoy. Your support makes experiences like this possible, and we are so grateful.
The smiles on the children’s faces said it all—what a fun and memorable day!
Our Expectations for Positive Behaviour
We are extremely lucky here at Rhos Street that the vast majority of our interactions with parents, carers, and visitors are positive and respectful. This partnership is something we truly value and appreciate.
We believe everyone—staff, pupils, governors, and parents—has the right to be heard and treated with courtesy, and we are committed to providing a safe and supportive environment for all. To help maintain this, we kindly remind all stakeholders that aggressive or abusive behaviour, unreasonable demands, or excessive contact will not be tolerated. While we understand that concerns can arise, we ask that these are raised calmly and respectfully. Actions that cause staff, pupils, or governors to feel threatened or distressed are considered unacceptable.
If behaviour does not meet these expectations, we may take steps such as limiting contact, arranging communication through a single point of contact, or, in serious cases, involving the appropriate authorities.
Thank you for working with us to ensure Rhos Street remains a positive and safe community for everyone.
Have Your Say on Free School Meals
As you may know, all primary school children in Wales can access a free school meal through the Welsh Government’s Universal Primary Free School Meals (UPFSM) policy. Arad Research and ICF have been commissioned to evaluate the impact of this policy on families. Parents and carers are invited to share their views—whether or not your child currently takes up the offer. Your feedback will be used to understand the impact of the policy and explore ways it might be further improved.
The survey takes around 10–15 minutes to complete: https://horizons.confirmit.eu/wix/p584531639198.aspx
Thank you for your time and support.
Year 5 & 6 Visit to the Living Classroom
Today, our Year 5 pupils enjoyed a fantastic visit to the Living Classroom, working alongside Denbighshire Countryside Services. The children took part in a range of activities focused on environmental awareness, sustainability, and wellbeing. One of the highlights was willow weaving to create tree guards, helping to protect young trees and support local biodiversity. This hands-on experience gave pupils the chance to connect with nature, learn practical eco-friendly skills, and understand the importance of caring for our environment. It was a wonderful opportunity to combine outdoor learning with wellbeing and teamwork. A big thank you to Denbighshire Countryside Services for providing such an engaging and meaningful day, and to our Chair of Governors Julie, for coming along to support us.
