Dear Parents & Carers / Annwyl Rieni a Gwarchodwyr,
I trust all had a good half term. We enter the final weeks of the academic year and look forward to a range of enjoyable activities, now that tests and assessments have been completed and submitted. We look ahead to next year and various transition activities will take place for some classes during the final weeks.
Hyderaf fod pawb wedi cael hanner tymor da. Rydym wedi cyrraedd wythnosau olaf y flwyddyn academaidd ac yn edrych ymlaen at ystod o weithgareddau pleserus, gan fod profion ac asesiadau wedi’u cwblhau a’u cyflwyno. Edrychwn ymlaen at y flwyddyn nesaf a chynhelir gweithgareddau pontio amrywiol ar gyfer rhai dosbarthiadau yn ystod yr wythnosau olaf.
Yours sincerely / Yn gywir,
Bryn D. Jones, Headteacher / Pennaeth
Urdd Eisteddfod – We were so proud to see the success of our pupils at last week’s National Eisteddfod in Cardiff. What a delight it was to see Rhos Street kids performing on the prestigious Millennium Centre stage as they secured 3rd place in the dialogue. Their performance was live on S4C and can also be seen via the following link. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=khJMsWZvrRM
Ruthin Football Tournament – Good luck to the teams playing in the Ruthin tournament tomorrow. Fingers crossed for dry weather.
Year 5 Transition – On Tuesday morning, Year 5 will attend a transition activity at Ysgol Brynhyfryd on a superhero theme. A bus will take them there and back.
Size of Wales – We welcomed Becky from the environmental charity ‘Size of Wales’ who led our assembly and held workshops with the Junior classes on the theme of rainforest conservation and renewal.
Manchester – Years 5 and 6 are off to Manchester next week on an overnight adventure. Keep an eye on Twitter for updates of all the exciting activities.
Save a Life Wales Video – Earler this year you will remember that some of our pupils took part in the creation of a video promoting the benefits of CPR as part of the Save a Life Wales initiative. You can see that video by following this link – https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=4&v=2q0sHMhUzps

Theatre Clwyd Exhibition – An exhibition based on the Wave Me Goodbye Workshops attended by Year 5 is open to view at Theatre Clwyd.
Year 2 Transition – Year 2 attended their first transition session up in the Juniors. They were very excited and gave very good first impressions I hear!
Water Safety Charity Day – Thank you for supporting the Water Safety Charity Day. A total of £160 was raised. Thank you also to all entrants to the competition which was judged by the Bartley family, with prizes shared with all winners. On Wednesday, Blackpool Tower was lit up in purple in memory of Mark and I hope the family all were comforted by the activities that took place on the anniversary of his death.
Chester FC Payments – I have been informed that not all pupils are paying the requested contribution of £2 per session for the after school football club. In order to make this provision viable, could all pupils ensure they bring payment and hand it over to either the class teacher or to Ben and Kalvin. Many thanks.
Music Lessons – Could payments for music lessons please be settled on Parent Pay. Many thanks.
Road Safety Conference – Our Road Safety Officers had a great time at the annual conference held at Faenol Fawr this week.
