Dear Parents & Carers / Annwyl Rieni a Gwarchodwyr,
With a new year upon us, I’d like to wish you all the very best for 2020. I trust that the Christmas period was an enjoyable one for all concerned and it has been good to see the pupils back this week. They have settled well and I’m sure are ready to face the challenges of the year with resilience, positivity and endeavour. I look forward to watching them all thrive!
Gyda blwyddyn newydd wedi cyrraedd, hoffwn ddymuno’r gorau i chi i gyd ar gyfer 2020. Hyderaf fod cyfnod y Nadolig wedi bod yn llawn hwyl i bawb ac mae wedi bod yn dda gweld y disgyblion yn ôl yr wythnos hon. Maent wedi setlo’n dda ac rwy’n siŵr eu bod yn barod i wynebu heriau’r flwyddyn gyda gwytnwch, positifrwydd ac ymdrech. Edrychaf ymlaen at eu gwylio i gyd yn ffynnu!
Yours sincerely / Yn gywir,
Bryn D. Jones, Headteacher / Pennaeth
Pantomime – The pantomime in Mold was enjoyed by all. I’d like to once again thank the PTA for their help in allowing us to provide this activity for our pupils. Their contribution is as ever, very much appreciated.
Year 6 Transition Session – Next Friday morning, Year 6 will attend Ysgol Brynhyfryd for a transition activity. I’d be grateful if all Year 6 pupils could be in school by 8.45am, so we can get them up there in good time. Many thanks.
Community Notice – As the children’s play park adjacent to Ruthin Football Club is under threat of closure, a community meeting to discuss opposing the move will be held at the football club from 5-6pm this evening. Anybody interested is invited to attend.
Over the Rainbow – The new term kicked off with a special visit from some famous characters, as an introduction to this year’s creative project based on The Wizard of Oz, in partnership with Denbighshire and Magic Light Productions.
After School Clubs – Chester FC will resume after school football sessions next week on January 16th. Art Club will resume on January 27th and the Urdd will hold a free sports club after school for four Tuesdays, beginning on January 14th. Please see the pro-formas sent home to register.
Glan Llyn – Year 3 Residential Visit. Could all consent and medical forms be returned to school as a matter of priority please? I very much hope they enjoy their visit next week.
Cardiff – Similar forms have been sent home this week for the Cardiff trip and I’d be grateful for their prompt return, as well as payment for the trip being settled via Parent Pay.
Achievers – Students of the Week were Annabelle, Jay, Charlie, Willow, Henry, Billy, Finley, Archie and Oscar. Welsh awards went to Daniel, Billy, Henry, Ella-May, James and Daniel. A gymnastics certificate went to Tiffany and a Lifeguard certificate to Ben. Well done all!
Urdd Membership – We will be organising competitors for the Urdd Eisteddfod over the next couple of weeks, so your co-operation in ensuring those wanting to take part are members would be appreciated.
Swimming – Swimming sessions resume next week on Wednesday afternoon for Year 5.
Brass Sessions – Pupils in Year 3 who received class brass lessons last term have been sent a letter inviting them to register for individual lessons. Year 4 will begin class sessions with Mr. Powell on Wednesday.
Clothes Recycling Initiative – Ffion and Morgan addressed the school in this morning’s assembly regarding a clothes recycling initiative we’ve signed up to. A letter from the Eco-Council is also being sent home with this newsletter.
Payment of Monies – I’d be grateful if all parents could make sure they are up to date with payments for dinner money, pantomime and trips via Parent Pay. Payments for this term’s music lessons will be set up soon.
PTA Meeting – A PTA meeting will be held here at the school on Tuesday at 3.30pm. All welcome!
