December 14th 2018 Rhagfyr 14eg

Dear Parents and Carers / Annwyl Rieni a Gwarchodwyr,
We are getting nearer and nearer to the big day. I’m sure you’ll agree it is definitely the best time of year and these final weeks in school, despite the busy hurly burly are very, very special and ones to savour. I hope you enjoy the services and the children enjoy the final week.

Rydym yn agosau at y diwrnod mawr. Rwy’n siŵr y cytunwch ei bod yr amser gorau o’r flwyddyn ac mae’r wythnosau olaf yma yn yr ysgol, er gwaethaf y prysurdeb mawr, yn arbennig iawn. Rwy’n gobeithio y byddwch chi’n mwynhau’r gwasanaethau ac mae’r plant yn mwynhau’r wythnos olaf.

Yours sincerely / Yn gywir,

Bryn D. Jones, Headteacher / Pennaeth

Rock Choir Performances – The Rock Choir have been in great voice and I’d like to thank them for their commitment and enthusiasm last weekend at Awelon and at the Rotary Concert at St. Peter’s Church. Today, they sang in Costa Coffee and the wonderful, noisy reception from our ever supportive parents and relatives was very much appreciated. The complimentary hot chocolates went down a treat too! Next Thursday, they will sing in Tescos.

Christmas Service Arrangements – Children will be wearing uniform for the performances, but have been told they can add some Christmas titivation to their attire! You will have ordered your requested number of tickets and as stated previously any donations given on the afternoons and evening would be much appreciated and will go towards improving the provision of ICT at the school. On the Wednesday evening performance, we ask the children arrive at 5.30pm and go to their classes via main reception. At the end of the performances, they will all go back to class and be released to parents via the usual procedures at the end of a normal school day. Please remember that parking space has also been secured at the Farmers’ Market, as Pen Barras are also holding one of their concerts that evening. With the volume of traffic predicted on and around the site I ask you all to drive carefully and be vigilant with so many children and adults on site in the darkness.

Christmas Jumper Day – It’s always great to see the variety, colour, creativity and humour depicted in the Xmas jumpers every year and this year has been no different.

Santa Dash – Next Friday, the pupils are encouraged to dress as elves for £1 towards St. Kentigern Hospice and at playtime a special Elf / Santa run will take place on the school field. It promises to be quite a sight!

Xmas Craft – Pupils have been grabbing the opportunities to show off their creative skills through their Xmas craft activities. It’s been great to use the willow harvested from the Living Classroom being used so effectively, to make some lovely Xmas stars.

After School Club – If you have made block bookings on certain days for After School Club, could you please inform us in advance if your child will not be attending. As we are full on some days, this would free up a space for us to offer other pupils who wish to access the service. We don’t want to enter a situation where we have to charge for unfulfilled bookings so your co-operation would be appreciated.

Chester FC Achievers – Well done to Isaac, Faye, Grace, Ruby, Lottie, Seren and Connie who have made such a good impression with Chester FC in their training sessions, to have been invited to the great city to join their development centre. I hope they enjoy this fantastic opportunity!

PTA Film Afternoon – On the afternoon of Thursday Dec 20th, the PTA have organised a treat for the pupils, who will get to watch a film and also have some special refreshments in their classes.

Year 1 Competition Success – A big thank you to Sarah Yates who entered Year 1 in a competition run by HiQ and has secured some prizes and £1000 of Amazon vouchers for the school. What fantastic news and a huge thank you!

Urdd Membership – In the New Year, Urdd Eisteddfod activities will take place. The cost of membership goes up from £7 to £10 on January 10th, so please send in your payment now so you can make that saving.

Glan Llyn – Could all remaining payments via Parent Pay for Year 3’s visit to Glan Llyn be made promptly.

Pentrellyncymer – Could all pro-formas be sent back quickly, indicating interest among Year 4 pupils regarding this trip. This will allow us to firm up numbers before Xmas. Many thanks.

Music Lessons
– Could all outstanding music payments be made please via Parent Pay?
