Shoctober – Our Shoctober day on Monday was a great success, raising nearly £400 towards our defibrillator. During the day Years 4, 5 and 6 were trained in CPR and the work by everybody involved over the last few weeks has made many heads turn. Well done all! Thank you to Tomos and the Achub Calon y Dyffryn team.

Operation Christmas Child – You will have received a letter this week from the School Council’s Chairperson, Ruby Mann regarding their wish to take part in this year’s Operation Christmas Child initiative. This is one we have supported many times in the past and we ask that all boxes are sent to school by November 14th.

Administration of Medicine – As a result of a new Managing Healthcare policy introduced by Denbighshire County Council for schools to adopt, a new medication form has been developed that must be filled if you wish the school to administer any medication for your child. A copy is now available on the website’s downloads section for you to print and fill in the details. I’m afraid we will not be able to administer any medicine, unless the form has been filled.

Cycle Experience – Year 6 received their cycling certificates following the Bikeability training that took place last week.

INSET Day – Monday Nov 6th is a staff training day, so the children return on Tuesday 7th.

Football – Our football squad gave a fine account of themselves in the recent Urdd and Vale events. Their efforts, teamwork and sportsmanship did not go unnoticed.

Class 6 Cake Activity – As part of our Numeracy work, Year 6 have been learning about measuring and using different scales with Miss Jones. They measured out ingredients to make chocolate-chip scones, followed the recipe themselves and Mrs Curran baked them in the canteen. At the end of the day, the pupils and some lucky teachers, enjoyed the benefits of their accurate measuring. They were there one minute and scone the next!

School Council – Our School Council spent a very informative afternoon visiting County Chambers in Ruthin and were given the opportunity to ask questions, as well as learn about the work of the local councillor.

Halloween Disco – Thanks to the PTA for organising a very successful disco which made over £800 profit. Thanks to all that helped and to the Candy Shack for the candyfloss machine!

PTA Auction – This event has now been postponed until the New Year.

Giggles – Giggles have had Diwali celebration parties! They had so much fun dancing, dressing up, tasting food and many other activities. The children went outside to scatter colours onto Rangoli patterns. They made Diya lamps and decorated special initial stones. The children really enjoyed having their hands painted in henna patterns.A Happy Diwali to all.

Achievers – Mia, Kemal, Emilie, Maizie, Kody, Oliver, William, RubyJ and Raif were Students of the Week, with Urte, Evie and Casi getting Welsh awards.
