Dear Parents / Carers,
The weather may have put paid to the cross country, but did not deter us as we walked to church today for our Harvest service. It’s always so positive walking up en masse to church and be welcomed so warmly by so many of the school community.
Annwyl Rieni / Gwarchodwyr,
Er fod y tywydd wedi dod a’r traws gwlad i ben, doedd y glaw ddim wedi ein rhwystro ar ein taith i’r eglwys heddiw. Mae wastad yn bositif gweld yr ysgol yn cerdded gyda’u gilydd drwy Rhuthun a cael croeso mawr yn yr eglwys.
Yours sincerely / Yn gywir,
Bryn D. Jones, Headteacher / Pennaeth
Harvest – We had a lovely service this morning in St. Peter’s Church, with all classes performing items of charm and quality. The staff’s hard work in preparing the pupils was rewarded. Thank you for the donations to the Ruthin food bank and for the help walking the children to and from church.
Jamboree – The Foundation Phase had a great time at the Jamboree earlier this week, singing a series of Welsh songs with all the local schools in attendance.
Anti-Bullying Workshop – Some members of our School Council got to visit Denbigh High this week and take part in a special anti-bullying workshop. They now have ideas regarding what type of activities they could lead during anti-bullying week which takes place later this term.
Superhero Headquarters – Class 1’s Superhero Headquarters looks like a great place to try out your superpowers!
Last Week’s Achievers – Last week’s Students of the Week were Tommy, Cadie, Alex, Miklaj, Jess, James, RubyM and Katie. Welsh awards went to Dean, Seren, Jos, Wil and Ella. Leo had a Ju Jitsu award, Illiana a swimming award, Xander a certificate for Grade 4 cornet and Raif, Matthew and Reuben were recognised for their NE Wales rugby selection.
Green Flag – Our old tattered flag has been lowered and the new flag recognising the renewal of our Eco-Schools status has replaced it. Thanks again to Kenny Atherton for doing the honours.
Nursery Biscuits – The Nursery Class have been making biscuits as part of their ‘myself’ project.
Shoctober – On the 23rd October, we will be holding our Shoctober event to raise money for a defibrillator. On that day, pupils can pay a £1 to wear own clothes, can buy cakes and also soak me if they wish (but will have to pay 50p for the privilege!)
£1 Coins – As the old pound coin will no longer be legal tender, from now on we will be unable to accept them in the office.
Cross Country – This week’s event was scuppered by the weather. It will hopefully be rescheduled for after half term.
Parents’ Evening – You should have received appointment times for the parental consultations next week.
Cycle Experience – Year 6 will take their cycling proficiency course next week. I’m sure the sessions will be of great benefit.
Year 6 Family Service – This will be held on Wednesday at 9am. Parents and relatives welcome.
Year 5 Family Service – The original date for Year 5’s Family Service has been put back to November 17th.
Urdd Football – Details have been sent out to interested pupils for this event which takes place next week.
Halloween Disco – Please refer to last week’s newsletter for the poster including details of next Friday’s event.
Dance Lessons – There will be no more dance lessons held on a Friday after school and October 13th will be the last after school dance session with Mrs Lewis.
From the start of next term, it will take place on Wednesday lunchtimes starting on November 8th. Children can wear their P.E. kits and will dance bare foot. If any new dancers would like to join they are welcome to start dance next term (Year 3 and up).
