Dear Parents & Carers / Annwyl Rieni / Gwarchodwyr,
We reach the end of the week full of anticipation, excitement and a little trepidation at our inspection which takes place next week. It goes without saying that the efforts of everybody concerned have been noted and appreciated and now we look forward to the opportunity to showcase our school. I am confident of it being a very positive experience for all involved. Please see below for information regarding the parental meeting, which takes place on Monday evening after school.
Rydym yn cyrraedd y diwedd yr wythnos yn llawn cyffro a pheth nerfusrwydd tuag at ein arolwg, sy’n cael ei gynnal yr wythnos nesaf. Mae’n mynd heb dweud bod ymdrechion pawb dan sylw wedi cael eu nodi a’u gwerthfawrogi ac yn awr rydym yn edrych ymlaen at y cyfle i arddangos ein hysgol. Yr wyf yn hyderus y bydd yn brofiad cadarnhaol iawn i bawb dan sylw. Gweler isod am wybodaeth ynglŷn â’r cyfarfod rhieni, sy’n cael ei gynnal ar nos Lun ar ôl ysgol.
Yours sincerely / Yn gywir,
Bryn D. Jones, Headteacher / Pennaeth
Year 5 Transition – Year 5 visited Brynhyfryd this week for a special day of art and technology activities. It gave them an eye opener to the opportunities they will receive when they move on to Secondary school and further visits are planned as part of the transition arrangements.
Estyn Parental meeting on Monday 3.45pm – Having filled in questionnaires previously, there is another opportunity for parents to have their say in the meeting on Monday at 3.45pm in the school hall. I hope you are able to come and meet with members of the inspection team and answer their questions. Please see the attached agenda for this meeting. A crèche has been organised in Class 2, so you may leave your child/ren with us in order for you to attend the meeting if you wish.
Nant BH – We had a large group of pupils this week enjoying the outdoor activities and taking advantage of the opportunity to develop their independence. They went gorge walking, rope climbing, walking in the snow, orienteering and had lots of fun. Thanks to Mrs Davies, Mr. Davis, Eira and Leanne for their care of the children.
PTA Xmas Fair – This takes place next Friday from 3.30-5.30pm. Today, pupils have been wearing own clothes and contributing prizes for the tombola – thank you for your support. Please see the attached poster.
Xmas Rock Choir – It’s that time of year again, where the pupils sing their Xmas songs with such enthusiasm that they drown out the dodgy guitar accompaniment! Their first gig is next Saturday afternoon on Ruthin square as the Xmas lights are turned on at 4pm. I will send a letter home early next week with details of all the performances between now and the end of term.
Governors Report to Parents – I have emailed copies of this report to you and also added it to the school website. If you require a paper copy, then please pop into the office where we will be happy to provide you with one. Guidelines state that if you wish to call a meeting to discuss its contents, then please inform the office in writing by Monday, December 3rd. Please refer to the section ‘Meeting with parents’ on page 5.
Xmas Dinner – I have included a pro forma for you to specify whether or not you wish your child to have Xmas Dinner here at the school on Wednesday, December 5th. A prompt reply would assist the canteen in organising numbers.
Students of the Week – Students of the weeke were Seren, Meredith, Jay, Shreya, Fletcher, Isaac and Evie, with Illy getting a Welsh award. Noah and Leo received medals for Conwy Fun Run.
School Council Initiative – Another School Council initiative came to fruition this week, as we welcomed some Pen Barras pupils to assist with Welsh reading in class. The sessions went very well indeed. Thank you to the School Council for introducing such a positive development of co-operation between the two schools.
Eco and School Council – It was a pleasure to welcome representatives of both the Eco and School Council to a Governors’ meeting on Tuesday evening. It was a pleasure to see and hear our pupils so confidently discussing the wide range of initiatives they’ve been introducing and working on with the other pupils in the school.
