Dear Parents and Carers / Annwyl Rieni a Gwarchodwyr,
This week has been about Anti-Bullying Week and of course Children in Need. It’s been so pleasing and encouraging to see how much the pupils have been planning, organising and running activities for both initiatives. Our Criw Cymraeg have also been keen to add a bit of Welsh flavour to proceedings too.
Mae’r wythnos hon wedi bod yn ymwneud ag Wythnos Gwrth-fwlio ac wrth gwrs, Plant mewn Angen. Bu’n braf ac yn galonogol gweld faint mae’r disgyblion wedi bod yn cynllunio, trefnu a chynnal gweithgareddau ar gyfer y ddau fenter. Mae ein Criw Cymraeg hefyd wedi bod yn awyddus i ychwanegu ychydig o flas Cymreig i’r gweithgareddau hefyd.
Yours sincerely / Yn gywir,
Bryn D. Jones
Anti-Bullying Week – Thank you for supporting our odd-socks day, celebrating that it’s good to be different. The School Council went round the classes sending their anti-bullying message using the acronym RESPECT, while each class also decorated cut out hands with words about how to be a good person. The School Council were also asked to judge Pen Barras’ poster competition.
Children in Need – We had some great costumes today. The children have enthusiastically embraced all the activities. Thank you for the cake donations and thank you to Miss Davies and the School Council for their work in organising. I have just about dried off after my soaking!
Dr. Bike – The Dr Bike session this week was a valuable and worthwhile activity, giving pupil bikes a health check. Thank you to Mr Davis and Governor Mr Hubble for their work.
Urdd Gala – Well done to Gabby and Nate for representing the school in the Urdd Swimming Gala this week. Nate finished third in the backstroke event so congratulations to him. Both of them swam superbly!
Achievers – Our Students of the Week are Henry, Leyla, Isabella, Logan, Constance, Indi, Tyler W and Stacey.
Criw Cymraeg – Thank you to our Criw Cymraeg for their efforts in promoting Welsh at the school. Their enthusiasm is notable. They presented their bilingual Children in Need acrostic work to the rest of the school in service this morning. Thank you to Miss Price for her work with them.
School Target Summary – You will have received by email a summary of our whole school targets this year with further information on how to support your child. I hope you find it of use.
PTA – In last night’s PTA meeting, it was agreed that next Friday will be an own clothes day, where we ask for suitable donations to go into a children’s tombola. The date of the fair is 30th November from 3.30-5.30pm and the PTA asks for anyone willing to help to email rhosstreetpta@gmail.com.
Year 5 Brynhyfryd Visit – On Tuesday Year 5 will make their first transition visit to Brynhyfryd in an Art and Technology day. Normal drop off and pick up at Rhos Street.
Nant BH – From Wednesday next week, Years 5 and 6 will be at Nant BH. I hope they enjoy! Could all payments be settled please?
Twitter – Don’t forget to look at twitter for even more information regarding this week’s activities.
PE Equipment – Thank you to Julie Debicka for running the recent Body Shop raffle, which has raised money for us to purchase some PE equipment. Becky Harrison was the lucky winner!
School Punctuality and Attendance – You support in ensuring we have excellent attendance and punctuality over the coming weeks would be very much appreciated.
Christmas Concerts – This year, our first Xmas Services at the new site will be whole school events and dates are also overleaf.
Safety Around and On Site – I am receiving reports of near misses involving cyclists and pedestrians in local traffic on the roads that lead to school and am finding it highly alarming. I appeal to you all to maintain the greatest vigilance as you approach and travel on the site.
