Ebrill 29ain / April 29th 2022

Dear Parents and Carers / Annwyl Rieni a Gwarchodwyr,

The first week of the summer term has flown by, maybe the four-day week has helped a little, and another to follow next week! New equipment has ‘magically’ appeared over the Eater break (thanks Tony) and there have been a huge variety of activities going on all across the school. It has been wonderful to see Miss Pugh settling in so well with her Nursery class and the lovely response she has had from all the children. As we head into the final term of the year I’m hopeful that we can begin to return to some sort of normality, getting back to doing the things, in school, that we have enjoyed so much in pre-covid years. Have a great long weekend.

Planting Tables / Foundation Phase Stage

Many thanks again to our multi-talented caretaker Tony Dallolio for his hard work over the Easter break constructing planting tables in the polytunnel and a fantastic stage in the Foundation Phase outdoor area. Both will be put through their paces, I’m sure, over the coming term. I am so proud of the staff and children of Rhos St for embracing our outdoor projects with so much gusto.

Artefact Workshop

Year 2 and 4 thoroughly enjoyed their workshops with @HistArchChester. A huge thanks to them for bringing in so many wonderful artefacts and for inspiring creative thinking!

Ruthin Castle

Year 2 went on a fantastic adventure to Ruthin Castle on Thursday as a follow-up to their medieval artefacts workshop on Tuesday. They learned lots about the medieval parts of the site and saw some of the wonderful decorations and furniture.

Yr 6 Team Building

To kick off their new topic, Dragon’s Den, Blwyddyn 6 had a team-building task to build the tallest tower using only paper. Despite a few setbacks, each team showed great resilience and are now ready to put their entrepreneurial skills to the test. Fantastic teamwork!

Service
The relaxation of school covid restrictions has meant that we are able to accommodate all of our children in the hall during lunchtime. It was so good to see everyone together again. And on that note we had our first whole-school service in a very long time this morning, all about friendship. Despite the amount of time that has passed since the last time the children were all together in the hall they all behaved, listened and responded brilliantly. It was a great feeling to be back doing primary-school type things again!

Job Opportunities
We have two great job opportunities at Rhos St at the moment. We are looking to appoint a cook for both Rhos St and Ysgol Pen Barras and a cleaner, at Rhos St, for two hours each weekday evening from 3.15pm – 5.15pm.
More information and the online application form for both opportunities can be found on the Denbighshire County Council website by following the Job Vacancy tab.

Achievers
Our wonderful achievers this week are: Fleur, Isaac, Elsie, Eliza, Myah, Jude, Isla, Leila, Eva, Belle, Oskar, Abbie, Elissa, Emiliya, Leon, Azam, Shraya, Joe, Maya, Issy and Elliott. Congratulations to them all!

Yours sincerely / Yn gywir,

Andrew Davis, Headteacher / Pennaeth
